Four People Shot at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Unauthorized Event Results in Shooting





On the evening of Saturday April 18, an unlawful gathering of several hundred people at Howe Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade neighborhood turned violent when upwards of 20 gunshots were fired as Sacramento County law enforcement were in the process of dispersing the crowd.

What Happened

Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office was notified concerning individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at the Arden-Arcade park. An additional caller indicated a potential fight and people leaving the area quickly.

Air support was sent to the area and swept the area but found no evidence of the reported fight.

At the same time, several hundred people had come together at Howe Community Park for what law enforcement classified as an unapproved assembly. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies formed a perimeter around the park, activated emergency lights, and took about 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse through their vehicle PA systems.

As law enforcement was clearing the area, 20 to 25 gunshots rang out — causing hundreds to flee in panic.

Victims of the Shooting

Four individuals — one female and three males, all young adults in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two sustained immediate injuries, one sustained moderate injuries, and one suffered injuries classified as minor. All four were reported in stable condition. Scene Details

Gunfire originated from the Cottage Home Depot Sacramento shooting Way side side of the park read more adjacent to the Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. The Home Depot store was placed under temporary lockdown. Additional spent casings were discovered on Cottage Way, with rounds lodged found in the metal fence surrounding the nearby Home Depot — showing rounds fired in a southerly direction from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot parking lot. Investigators and crime scene technicians worked the scene into the night.

Suspect Information

Over law enforcement radio traffic, it was reported that a vehicle of interest — a Howe Park Sacramento gunfire Kia automobile — was intercepted in nearby Solano County with four people in custody.
